The Neals started
singing Gospel
Music together in 1993. Ed and his wife Shelley were singing
together as a Husband and Wife duo. Then, in April of 96',
Shelley's Mother, Sharon Skaggs joined the
group after singing with the Kings Harmony Quartet for over 20
years.
Ed & Shelley
are members
of Sewell Valley Baptist Church at Rupert,WV, and are actively
involved
in the music ministry there. Ed enjoys playing the guitar taking
care of his brand new son, Gabriel.
Shelley has her Masters Degree in voice and piano and teaches choir at
Eastern Greenbrier Middle School. She also owns and
operates two dance studios. Sharon is
also involved in the music in the ministry of her church, Lovers
Leap Baptist Church. She
serves as church organist and sings
in the choir.
In the summer of
1998 the
Neals won second place honors at the Appalachian Praise Fest Talent
contest, sponsored by Daywind Records. In July of 1999 in Berlin, Ohio
they won second place honors at
Ohio's Largest Talent Search, sponsored by Kevin Spencer. Their
latest recording titled ‘One More
Time' and was produced by singer and song writer John Darin Rowsey
of the Gospel group Karen Peck
and New River. ‘Southern Gospel with a progressive edge'
is how one concert promoter has described
the Neals.
The Neals share
their unique
style of Southern Gospel Music with churches and organizations
throughout West Virginia and surrounding States.
